In Finding Your YES – Part 1, the key concepts we left you thinking about were:
As an adult you want, need, desire having or have, a vision for yourself; and the one you need to turn to for permission is you. You are now the adult granting or holding back permission.
We encouraged you to take time Finding Your YES! Knowing that when you come up with a new idea, or desire, it’s natural to have a knee jerk reaction to keep the status quo and therefore the immediate response might be, no, you can’t have that, create that, don’t go there, you’re out of your comfort zone. You might quickly be running this idea through your comfort filter and “no†seems like the easy, most comfortable way out!
Finding Your YES – Part 2
Once you understand this concept, you will be excited to be on the journey to Finding Your YES! The end of the journey is the YES spot, the internal place or moment in time when your heart and mind are one, and you can say yes with a sense of passion and commitment. The yes moment is when the internal hard work in choice making is behind you, you have clarity and you can commit with confidence. It is a large stepping-stone to a new world, a new path with many more gifts. Finding it is an intimate and heartfelt process you’ll come to love and enjoy. It is stimulating and opens you to new learning, people, and exploration on levels big and small. Finding Your YES, involves being fully present to and enjoying the journey versus being unhappy and uncomfortable while you get to the destination.
When you are in a time of not knowing, when you are experiencing uncertainty about something in your future, you have the opportunity to consciously find your yes. Just like a painter who is going to participate and watch as her images evolve into clarity on the canvas. Just as Michelangelo, spent months in the quarry choosing his marble, participated, observed, noticed, for months and years paid attention as he was carving, until his sculptures emerged. As an artist you learn to become one with what you are creating and the way to manifest your piece is by becoming one with your process. There are certain elements to being in the process of creating a piece of art: you get into the mindset you want to be in (in the zone); you create the environment you need to work in, you have your tools ready, you’ve spent hours, months gathering your materials, paint, canvas, your marble, metal, stones, etc. You have an idea vague or clear, you have a feeling, you have an urge… something is inspiring you. You engage, it takes time, you are patient, curious, … and in the end there is a beautiful piece of art for the artist and others to behold.

Now let’s translate that to creating what you want in your future, therefore Finding Your YES. You might start with an inkling, an inner tickle to create something new in your life, or something is shifting and it’s time to make a change. Perhaps: you’re dating and you’re thinking it’s time to marry, you have a passion and want to start a business or evolve the business or organizational position you’re in, it’s time to look for a college to attend or choose a major and there are many options and you’re young – how would you know, maybe you’ve lost you’re job and need to find what’s next. Perhaps you’ve done your work for years and have lost your passion and you want to do something new and different. The list of examples is infinite. You need to move beyond knowing what you don’t want, to knowing what you do want. You won’t move forward knowing your no’s. If all you are clear on are your no’s, you’re most likely feeling paralyzed, riddled with fear and ready to retreat from finding anything. This will lead you to living a life of mediocrity where your potential will lie dormant and you’ll walk with feelings of dread. I hope you can start to see that it’s truly more fun and valuable to find your yeses!
Imagine you’re experienced in this process of change and creation. Something is shifting in your life and you commit to Finding Your YES. Your mind starts to align itself with the assignment. Your heart opens and starts pouring love and caring into the process. You are patient with yourself. When it comes to this Yes you are finding, your heart, mind and body know there is no rush. You allow yourself to take the pressure off, and give yourself lots of room and time to explore; this way you’ll get there more quickly and with excitement. The journey itself will be memorable and filled with gifts. You give yourself full permission to explore and find your Yes. If there is a time frame required, your timing will adjust with ease. As an adult you are flexible. You’re excited, curious, and you feel safe in your process. You know you’ve been through the cycle of change and creation before and you can trust yourself and the process that needs to occur.
Finding Your YES is about the process that needs to occur on the way to the YES spot. It’s about that specific time between that inkling or shift that occurred letting you know change is in the making and the time when you are ready to create or start something new with passion and commitment. It’s the in-between time – the journey that gets you to your YES spot. Sometimes it may be in one aspect of your life that you’re finding your way to yes and other times, it might be that you’re taking your life to a new level and all is in upheaval. What I’m encouraging you to do is to fully embrace this time, use it to get to know yourself, your resourcefulness, and your power. Use it to lean into the wisdom and support of others and to trust your intuition and inner guidance. Some of life’s most tender and memorable moments happen in the in-between time if you let them.  Be curious of what life is offering you and about who you are in relationship to it. Take your time; give yourself all the permission to enjoy the trip of Finding Your YES.
- What’s up in your life, that involves being on the path to Finding Your YES?
- If you were being kind to yourself, how much time do you think you need to find your clarity?
- Can you imagine the journey being fun if you let yourself have it?
- Will you give yourself permission to enjoy the journey?
